Because Christian worship is not supposed to be about you.
What's the problem?
If you don't know what the problem is here, you probably don't get this blog.
Hey, it isn't one of ours either.
The guy with the flamed mitre showing up around 4:07-4:10 deserves a post by himself...
Wow, this is bizarre. Christ Church in San Antonio is my family's home church in the USA. (Though right now we are also members of Christ Church in Nazareth, which is where we live.) My wife and I were confirmed there, married there, and two of our kids were baptized there. I think on all of those occasions there were way more laity present than at this ordination. The lack of laity was the oddest thing to me. The place fills up on an average Sunday morning--way more people than were at this ordination.
They style themselves Anglican Rite (?) ROMAN CATHOLICS. Can we not take them at their word? How ecumenically gracious of the Episcopalians to host the consecration.
Ahh, the "guy with the flamed[sic] mitre" looks like President of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops Timothy Michael Cardinal Dolan!
There actually is an Anglican Rite under Anglicanorum Coetibus. They are part of our NO, EF, and Anglican rite parish. They are with the Pope and everything.
This is not the Anglican-Usage of the Roman Catholic Church, but a jurisdiction under the Old Catholics (or at least a splinter group from them). Not to necessearily support them but they explain it on their website: http://www.anglicanritecatholicchurch.org/
I'm sure Msgr. Steenson, the head of the Anglican Use in the RC church, would not be sanctioning this. But did anyone else find it a little disconcerting that this "Anglican Rite" video was filled with Gregorian Chant rather than Anglican Chant?
I should elaborate that Msgr. Steenson is the head of the Personal Ordinariate of the Chair of St Peter in the United States and Canada, i.e., the Anglican Use RC's. The principle church for this ordinariate is Our Lady of Walsingham in Houston.
