Because Christian worship is not supposed to be about you.
Right side over left shoulder -- a clerical boa! Miss Mae West would adore it.
If Dr. Seuss designed a Dr. Who scarf...
Could someone just shoot it and put it out of its misery? (The boa, not the priest)

Introducing the new vestment collection from:"Saint Richard Simmons Inclusive Episcopal Church"
Ooh it's got fluffy bits! It's just not an apropriate comment is it?
Cross dressing python... I literally snorted. My vote is green feather boa... but you say python, I say boa, let's call the whole thing off.
II live in a state where we had a governor called "the body" and he sported things like this all the time.BARNYARD LEAVINGS!Mike+
I thought it couldn't get any worse ... it just did. wearing a rug for a stole has got to be the absolute worst idea yet. But, in the Episcopal church, anything goes these days, so why should we be surprised?Anglican clergyman
A stole? I thought they were ear-rings.
I'm guessing that whoever created this also clips poodles.WTF
Sad to say... some of the most "startling" stoles have been the creations of an "inspired spouse". That doesn't make them any better, but it does explain why one would wear such a thing in public...
It would appear to be knitted. The hairy bits would seem to be 'eyelash' yarn
It's unfortunate this priest is so out of it that he actually slept through being knit bombed!
Cross-dressing....... ....... priest? Kyrie Eleison!
Obviously a homosexual.
This man is my priest, and this was made as a funny gift from a former parishioner who remembers a story he used to tell about lime jello - the "stole" is made to represent that. It was never meant as a serious or liturgically correct vestment.
Aside from the width and the, er, fuzzy-bits, it doesn't seem too bad. Maybe the Doctor is hiding out as a liturgist?LittleRed1
This is what happens when the snake converts want to 'participate' in the liturgy. Why did we even convert the snakes in the first place? They didn't fall from grace. They can't be Baptized. Get offa that priest ya silly snake. Jeez!
Question: are "joke" vestments appropriate attire for worship? Do you see any references to priests in clown suits worshipping at the Throne of God in Revelation? Did God tell Moses to prepare vestments for Aaron which would help put the Israelites at ease and give them a good chuckle? Basically, the fact of it being a joke makes it WORSE - it is not that he has a gauche sense of fashion, it is in fact that he is displaying a total lack of propriety!
This man is a fine and very traditional-minded priest - he wore this as an inside joke during a presentation at Diocesan Convention. As the previous poster said, not intended for liturgical use. It's one thing for us all to enjoy the joke; quite another to make personal comments about the priest. Please, you all, keep in mind that you cannot judge a book by its cover, and we do not always know the context of these photos.
Not obvious at all. Take your hate elsewhere, small minded one.
