The only cross (it appears) is the "primates" crozier in her steel grasp. I thought about whether I should post my impression when I saw this, slept on it, and still feel the same way. She looks like the Queen of Hearts and the Wicked Witch of the West all rolled into one... "and your little dog, too!"
Our L2 prayer is that God will wash all those who are not of Him out of leadership and raise up Godly leaders, that He will restore His order to His/our church.
Steve Martin - I'm in 100% full agreement with you. What bothers me is her theology and that it is being dressed up and packaged in these vestmests - knockoffs. She makes my blood run cold because either she knows what she's doing or she's so under Satan's control she doesn't.
Fr. John - one of the guys who's commented here from time to time has made at least one if not two. Don't know if he made this one, but I'm not going to waste my time to do the research. He usually makes comments against traditional vestments - doesn't like the fabric, doesn't like the galloon/tapestry down the middle, etc. My opinion is he enjoys his "art" more than the point of the vestment - to robe the participants so that our eyes and attention are turned to God. After all the comments made about flames - especially coming from below, I wonder if 1) he made this particular vestment, 2) who ever did it just to be a pain and end up on Bad Vestments because they see it as a badge of honor to tick off the conservatives. In any event, this vestment fails because it isn't drawing attention to God, but quite the opposite.
Alas, the presiding bishop should be banished to remedial vesture...allowed nothing but solid color, unornamented vestments. When she has mastered cut and color then we'll talk orphreys.
Such amazing insight, to be able to read a persons whole theology and attitude from their vestments!
Not calling attention to God? Do not red and flames direct our attention to the Holy Spirit and the Holy Martyrs? As for sleeves, it's a chasuble. It doesn't have any. And that 'pink', it looks more like rose (a Roman liturgical color) and is the lining that accents and complements the red. All looks quite creative and hardly a knock-off.
I think one can assume there are plenty of other crosses outside the picture's frame. The one she holds is not to call attention to herself, but to God whose blessing, as a catholic primate, she is declaring to the people.
Disagree with you, Fr Caleb. Been forced to watch KJS's actions - which are the most telling. Her wardrobe just caps it. It's not rose (Roman or not) - that's a much lighter color (as in a rose candle during Lent). Only thing I will agree with you is that, yes, "creative". You like it, good for you. You're welcome to it. She may declare anything she chooses. Doesn't make it real. Do you comprehend that while you all choose this "creativeness" you are pushing more people out of the pews and out the door? As this blog says, it's not all about you.
Some of us comprehend the problem with these vestments, and they are really just a reflection/symptom of the bigger problem with the theology of KJS and Company.
As far as Anon @7:42: Most of us have jobs, and release the stress of our church being taken over by people worshipping contrary to what we were taught. You don't like it, you don't have to come read what we're writing.

Complete with flames on the sleeves.
Very appropriate.
Bad vestments beside atrocious haircut. Double whammy!
Truly these are Lucifer's vestments.
The star of the stage.
My eyes are burning.
It appears in that she is also wearing matching lipstick.
Another venture in bad taste, but better than the purple things.

It's not her outfit that bothers me so much.
It's her human-centered theology, and her smug attitude to discussing differences with Christians who don't buy it.
Anton Levay eat your heart out!
I'll bet that vestment can do 0-60 in 2.8 seconds!
The Sauron costume at Trinity, Wall Street's new LOTR Communion. "And one ring to bind them..."
Where does she get these awful things???
Even the candles are shrinking back from her in dismay

I do not want to know what liturgical season hot pink belongs to. That's just . . . painful, optically as well as spiritually.

Χριστός ἀνέστη! Ἀληθῶς ἀνέστη!

Flames - or blood clot?
Y'all need to grow up and get a life. Or a job. Something to keep your minds and hands busy. You know. Like ministry.

As Jedd Clampett used to say, "Pitiful! Just pitiful!"
"as a catholic primate"
Say, rather, as a fraud and heresiarch.
That isn't even a religious cross, it is a Cross of Lorraine, a political/heraldic cross.
Dr. Schori is hardly a Catholic...by any Traditional or Biblical standard.
Please forgive me but she is NOT a catholic, much less a catholic primate. She is not in communion with any of the apostolic churches.

Anonymous - this IS "ministry" and who the hell are you to say otherwise? Hypocrite. Go "minister" yourself.
Back to the pic. If nobody has mentioned it before, why do I detect a faint echo of 'The Muppets'?
She needs to watch where that finger is pointing!!
Anyone else thinks she looks like Margaret Hamilton?
Did witches have a meeting?
Henry VIII would be pounding on the gates of Rome begging readmittance if he could see this.
I hear fear clothed in sarcasm. How sad. I love you anyway.
