NO, NON, NEIN, 否, いいえ, 한국어, Αριθ, НЕТ

My correspondent informs me that this stole celebrates women in sports.  Now that's a fine thing to celebrate, just not during Christian worship.  Ever.  Under any circumstances.  Period.  End of discussion.  Got me?!!

한국어 means "the Korean language."

The correct Korean word for "no" is 아니오 (ah-nee-o)

However, I fully agree with your main point: that stole is just criminal.

Ummm... What the hell do women in sports have to do with Jesus? As I recall he was Jewish and we all know that Jews and sports just dont mix.

I think there could be a whole blog on things that should never be celebrated in Christian worship, yet are. I would begin that list with patriotic holidays. It could easily be asked: What does an American flag in the worship space have to do with Jesus? File under "Worms, Can of"!

The sad thing about that stole, isn't that it depicts women in sports. But that I've seen worse

There's only one answer to all this Christ-dishonouring returning to the Old Testament: ban the lot!

I suppose that if you could push the button, it would play a *.midi file of "I wanna talk about me".

dang man! That's horrid even by this blog's standards. If you ever do a Worst Ever vote for this site, make sure this one is a nominee.

Can we play "Where's Martina?"

I suppose it is too much to hope that it is worn under a chasuble... on the other hand, I just visualized the chasuble. I am afraid.

Perfect for that day celebrating the patron saint of "womyn" athletes. That would be Saint, ummmm. Never mind.

Here's a photo from the latest consecration of a bishop in the Episcopal Church, namely the consecration of Bishop Daniel H. Martins of Springfield, IL.

On the whole, the vestments aren't too bad. The Presiding Bishop wears her trademark awful purplish vestments. However, the bishop on the far right is wearing something utterly awful. It looks like it's made from a gunny sack.

I wonder to what depths their musical standards have plunged.

Just a thought.

@ priest's wife: I totally hear ya! If you wanna celebrate sports, go to a gym. That's all fine and good. The Liturgy is God's; not ours to molest!

And that brings me to another question. Why do churches build huge, awesome gyms and furnish them sparing no expense while only half-way furnishing the interior of the actual church building and sub an Allen for a pipe organ?!!?

Another example of 1970s "touchy-feeley-feel-goody-me-me-me decade" nonsense.

Ex Aedibus,

Since I am acquainted with Bp. Dan, and quite like and respect him, I took particular interest in finding this picture, and I showed it to my wife. Poor thing, she had never seen the PB's "Purple Haze" Vestments, and literally could not stop laughing. And after that, a rousing chorus of "one of these things is not like the other".

The one on the far right is too plain to be all that bad. Reminds me of some old B movies of a Robinhood sort.
