At first I thought it was some sort of perverse christening gown. . . I looked more closely, and now I wish I hadn't.

Looks like children's pajamas that have been recycled by someone on the altar guild who is skilled with a sewing machine. And what do you get? The perfect vestments for, say Pentecost? The Holy Spirit is now Tweety Bird?

No wonder grown children leave the church!

You have some bad stuff on here, but that is particularly vile.

That may be the worst individual item yet.

Is that supposed to be a stole, or a maniple or what?

What do you expect of a congregation that actually thinks of the 1979 BCP as "traditional"?

Weeeeeelllll, it kinda looks like an omophorion, folded up, but no, it can't be.
No Orthodox bishop in his right mind would even think of tweety on his vestments.
I think it is a weird kind of diaper bag for recently pregnant priestesses.

You are a bunch of nasty hypocrites. Have you lot got nothing better to do. Go out in the world and do some GOOD! (like jump of a cliff)

I do have to wonder if someone didn't make that and photograph it just to see if they could get it featured on this blog.

I mean, who in their right mind. . . .

Is it a dress-up costume for toddlers? Looks too small for an adult and the proportions are all wrong..

Wait, I think I see something under the fringe, maybe it is just folded up??

I was at that service! Foghorn Leghorn was the usher, Elmer Fudd sang Wagner at the offertory, Daffy preached the Gospel, and Wile E. Coyote was the crucifer.

We're all going to jump off a cliff after seeing this.

My first thought was that it is a cover for the chalace and paten during a children's service or baptism. Which still makes it in very poor taste to put it mildly.

But the chalice veil is either supposed to be white, or the same color as the priest's vestments...

May I humbly bring to your attention: www.domusbirettarum.blogpot.com ?

You are right that indeed Christian worship is not supposed to be 'about you'. Over at db we agree, but there's nowhere where it says you can't do it in a fancy schmantzy hat... :)

Congratulations on an excellent, entertaining and often hilarious blog. Have been a fan for some time!

It looks to me like its for a chaplin in a children's ward of a hospital. Where did this pic come from?

Wow. Catholic, Piskie, or Angwiccan?

We need a stronger word than wrong to cover this.

It would go well with one of those Cassock-Albs so popular with Episcopalians and Continuing Episcopalians. Do you have anything in a Tartan?

This thing could do psychological damage.
It is the worst "vestment" I've seen on this site. . . Imagine depending on adults who would wear such a thing or who would expose you to a priest who would wear such a thing.

This would have creeped me out when I was a kid.

February 17 anonymous asked if we had nothing better to do. Evidently he has nothing better to do than read this blog as well.
