LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, YOUR 2010 TRINITY-WALL STREET EPISCOPAL CHURCH BOWLING TEAM!!
Mr. David Sibley sends along this new look at a classic bad vestment first mentioned here. Two things strike me about these things. Now that I know what that design is supposed to be, I hate it slightly less than I did before. And the concept of the liturgical uniform really creeps me out.

What did you think of the cope the Pope wore for the Palm Sunday procession?
Looks like they just got back from a Flordia Gator's football game and forgot to take their rain gear off. Or maybe that's 'liturgical yellow' they're wearing.
Have to agree. Therese Z sent me a link to the Pope cope previously alluded to. It's elaborate but it's dignified which means that it will never see the light of day here.
Problem #1: It's how to make the Jerusalem Cross look like the University of Texas' cheerleaders.
Problem #2: Only the celebrant should be wearing the chasuble: concelebrants should wear amice, alb, stole and maniple over their cassocks (but may wear copes in procession).

Actually I think the Pope's vestments in that picture are beautiful. They're a far cry from the garish blunders you normally see on this website.

Il papa looks as if he's wearing wallpaper from a New Orleans whorehouse - but then that's part of Vatican tradition too.

I think this could work very well if the cross design was about half of the size it is now.
