Let me further add... I have never felt it wise to wear a tab/tunnel collar shirt beneath a cassock. It simply looks terrible! I always wear a full neckband collar when I wear my cassock or my gown. If I am wearing an alb with a high neck or with an amice, then I'll skimp and wear a tab/tunnel collar.
Hello, I've not posted here before but much enjoy the blog. Just as a tiny, tiny word in favour of Dr Sentamu, he did a couple of years ago rather ostentatiously cut up his collar on a TV news show and declared he'd never wear another one until Robert Mugabe had been slung out of Zimbabwe. The manufacturers were only grateful we didn't all follow suit.
In response to Fr Roberts comment about the Archbishop's collar, I seem to remember he very pubclicly cut his clerical collar to shreds on live TV and said he would not wear it again while Robert Mugabe remained as President of Zimbabwe. I believe he's abandoned that now, but I suspect this photo was taken during his collar boycott
I hate the tabs. So calvinist! At least Abp. Sentamu is dignified enough to not be wearing those evil tabs! Though, to be honest, I would not be seen in a cope like that!

He doesn't seem all that confident wearing it...Please don't take a picture of me...I know I'll end up on Bad Vestments....
