Geoff: I have to agree. Certainly it's not the nicest set of vestments I've ever seen. But, it's one of the better ones that I have seen her wearing. Not sure what she's wearing around her neck, though. Is it a lei?
For her, this is certainly conservative... Merely ugly, and not completely ridiculous. Oh well, even she can have an off day.
I was bemused by ElephantsChild's quote from AP: "Traditional Christianity has always assumed that three kings came to visit ...". Of course, that's true, except for the three, or the kings. Scripture calls them magi or wise men, without counting them; Tertullian, a century or so later, said they were "almost as kings". And now queens, too, at the "Hopin'-for-change' Methodist Church...

Looks like a pretty standard Gothic chasuble to me - hardly outrageous, least of all by ++Katharine's standards.
